Kira Tsvetkova

My art addresses themes of space and environment, sleep and dreaming, surveillance and natural patterns. I work with oil paint, intaglio, soft sculpture, and other media to create small scale work that is intimate and highly detailed. The subject matter often includes human figures or animals, and I take inspiration from world mythology and folklore. 

I allow the meaning of my work to reveal itself through the process of making. Most of my recent work results in series as I approach my ideas several times from different angles, creating multiple iterations of similar imagery. The resulting relationships between these iterations help define and communicate the overall theme.
