What We Do with Feliks Pyron

Feliks RK Pyron (he/they) is a queer, non-binary artist currently operating out of Pittsburgh, PA. Originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, on the Gulf Coast of Mexico, Feliks spent every birthday until they were 23 going to the local science museum. In 2016, they got their Bachelor of Fine Arts from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, focusing in both ceramics and printmaking as a means of alternatively thinking about the value of illustration and communication. They swiftly moved to Morgantown, West Virginia, to work with Joseph Lupo, and in 2020 received their Master’s in Fine Art from West Virginia University.

Their continued work coming out of this program is The Museum of Queer Curiosities, a conglomeration of manufactured ‘artifacts’ and their dressings to create the simulation of a museum to talk about confusion, authority, and trust.

Feliks received the opportunity to work with Artists Image Resource in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and now works as the Operations Manager. Feliks has a multidisciplinary practice, and has worked with Frogman’s Print Workshops in Omaha, NE as part of their assistantship program for the past three annual workshops. They also teach screenprinting at the University of Pittsburgh, as well as continuing long-standing work as lead Illustrator for Thick Skull Adventures. They still continue to work on and locate the installation of the Museum, focusing more on intersectionality and queerness as they seek out collaborations with other queer artists to make use of its accumulative tactics.
