Scott Turri Lecturer

MFA in Visual Art, West Virginia University
BA, University of Pittsburgh

Hailing from suburban Philadelphia, where he spent his formative years, Turri now calls Pittsburgh home and has become entrenched in the regional art community. Although he has maintained a consistent dedication to painting throughout his career, he has had a range of artistic experiences: from punk rock to a performance art band, writing for Dialogue, Afterimage and Bomb magazines, to work in video. For the last 15 years, he has been immersed in positioning his practice within the spheres of contemporary art, and the broader culture. As a consequence, the practice has been inextricably linked to how the information age is shaping visual culture. His process includes: drawing, both traditionally and digitally, photography, and their digital manipulation. Subsequently, he then uses these components to design models which eventually lead to output: digital prints, paintings, and more recently Flash animations. Currently, he is represented by James Gallery.
