Artist Statement
I am investigating my standing in the world and who I am as a person, focusing
on how my childhood has affected me as I grow older. I want to use my art to
strike a balance between being a responsive adult and maintaining the innocence
and carefree spirit of childhood. My work consists of characters I have
developed as an adult combined with my recollections of whimsical childhood
imaginings. I use my characters both as a fun way to express myself and work
out issues, feelings, and memories from my life. I try not to limit myself to
one medium but rather to play and experiment with several different kinds of
making at once. I believe that this helps to revert to the childlike curiosity
that has always fueled me.
