Summer 2016 SA Wyoming Field Study Opportunity

Through the University Honors College, Studio Arts plans to once again offer this three-credit intensive in Wyoming. Students will meet in Denver in late June/early July for museum tours and studio visits and then will head north to Rock River, Wyoming, northwest of Laramie. Situated in the high altitude short grass prairie between the Laramie Mountains and the Medicine Bow Range, students will work between an encampment of tents on the Spring Creek Preserve’s 6,000 acres, the Longhorn Motel in Rock River, and makeshift studio space in a 1919 era Bank Building.

Please submit a proposal for the Summer 2016 Field Study to Professor Jenkins by Noon on Monday, February 22nd; cover sheets are available in room 118 Frick Fine Arts. Proposals should articulate anticipated plans for a directed-study like experience (what you hope to accomplish in the media you plan to work in, scale/size of works, number of works, etc.) framed by your interest in the intensive. This opportunity is best suited for upper-level majors, though less advanced majors and non-majors may apply - students who have recently graduated may also apply. Enrollment limit is four students.

If you have any questions regarding the program, please email Professor Jenkins at: djenkins@pitt.edu.
