Studio Arts

Student Work
in the Spotlight

The best way to decide whether the Department of Studio Arts is the right fit for you is to visit us. We encourage prospective undergraduates to arrange a tour of the Department by appointment or by personal informal tours whenever the building is open.

In April of each year, the creative work of graduating seniors is featured in the Studio Arts Student Exhibition held in the University Art Gallery, Frick Fine Arts Building; the creative works of the seniors are complemented by exceptional works, by majors and non-majors, from the range of Studio Arts courses.

"Breadth of study ... independent professional artist”

“The Pitt Department of Studio Arts offers study in a diverse range of media. With a series of introductory courses in each medium, a strong foundation is created from which the student can make an informed exploration into upper-level courses. I plan to attend graduate school in an MFA program. The Department of Studio Arts has given a good breadth of study in the arts and has helped foster my independent direction as a professional artist.”
