Scott Turri has a broad range of artistic experiences: from punk rock to a performance art band, writing for Dialogue magazine, work in video, and current work in painting. He was awarded a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship award for painting in 2006 and had solo shows in the last two years at Estel Gallery, Nashville, TN and the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Pittsburgh, PA. His work has always been about finding a balance between the personal and cultural as well as integrating these concerns within an art historical context. For the last ten years he has relied extensively on a computer-based method using Flash MX to create still images which are used as models for larger scaled painted replicas.
