Michael Morrill’s Paintings from the Diana and Peter Jannetta Collection Gifted to The Westmoreland Museum of American Art

In 2010, western Pennsylvania collectors Diana and Peter Jannetta promised The Westmoreland Museum of American Art a transformational gift—their collection of more than 100 objects of modern and contemporary American art. With this gift, the Jannetta’s have broadened the Museum’s collecting scope for the first time in it’s 56-year history, enabling it to complete the story of American art through the 20th and into the 21st century, and prompting the creation of a new permanent collection gallery that is dedicated to post-1950s American art.

Two of Morrill’s paintings, Untitled (Blue) and Untitled (Orange), are part of the Jannetta’s promised gift to the Museum’s permanent collection. Morrill’s works are on view in a group exhibition titled All About Color and Geometry: Selections from the Diana and Peter Jannetta Gift of Art at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art through April 17, 2016.
