Barbara Weissberger
Barbara Weissberger, lecturer
Barbara Weissberger is a 2007 Guggenheim Fellow and holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her current work consists of an ongoing series of watercolor drawings based on collages that juxtapose images from muscle magazines and her own photographs of hamburgers and other imagery. Past exhibitions include Capsule Gallery, New York, N.Y. (solo); the Mattress Factory Museum, Pittsburgh, Pa.; White Columns, New York, N.Y.; PS1, Long Island City, N.Y.; Schroeder Romero, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and DUMBO Art Center, Brooklyn, N.Y. Residencies include the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, VCCA, and the Montana Artists Refuge. She had a solo exhibition at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts in April 2007. She taught at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, Department of Photography and Imaging, from 1997 to 2004.
